Really enjoyed this episode. It’s interesting that is only women who seem to do this, or, at least, it only appears to be women who are in my radar. I do wonder if it’s a bit of a patriarchy thing, as in men perhaps don’t see it as an option. Maybe we are just a bit more open to the flexibility of it all. Don’t know. Just pondering this…!
Hanna and Lucy, I really enjoyed it! It's such a relief to know there are other women facing similar challenges after changing careers, trying to explore all their skills without feeling overwhelmed. I loved how calmly Lucy said, 'I am assessing what I want to expand'; it's a great mindset to have.
Thanks so much for listening Karina! I find that the more I’m honest about career stuff with other women I meet, the more I find so much common ground. I feel passionately that it needs to be talked about more.
Wonderful conversation, thanks Hannah. It was particularly interesting to hear how moving abroad helped Lucy give her ‘the push’ to pursue her freelance career.
Big life changes like that throw a lot of things in the air, but once the pieces settle, it’s good to know that it can be inspiring too!
I loved this episode which really resonated on many levels. As a multi-hyphenate (which personally I have always called professional plate spinning) the feeling of being spread too thinly is a constant battle. Often I try to avoid the dreaded question when you meet somebody new of "what is it that you actually do" by choosing one "plate" and shrugging off the rest. At the end of the day when clients are happy (and they pay well) all the spinning is worthwhile !
Do you get a buzz from doing lots of different things all at once? I find that I enjoy it when I don’t over think it, but once over-analysis sets in I can find myself feeling anxious about the various, seemingly unrelated, tasks I’m mid-way through. It’s a very difficult balance!

Ooh can’t wait to listen into your new podcast - career change, particularly for creatives, is perhaps one of my all time favourite topics 😍
