It looks so good, Hannah! That view is lovely. Light and a window to the outside world makes so much difference.

Thanks Maria 😊 The view of the sky never fails to put a smile on my face. I'm looking forward to the arrival of my blind though as the late afternoon sun is difficult to escape from!

Well done, but what a pain with the carpets 😳 glad you got it sorted & can now get the room looking perfect! I agree about the windows, we have small ones which we plan to keep on the front because of the aesthetic but we’ll have bigger ones out back & possibly no ceiling so we can have windows in the roof windows. Always so much to think about!

Gorgeous view

I guess nothing is ever straightforward with these things but at least we mostly got there in the end. The plumber came back today to install the toilet and tile a splash back in the adjoining loo. Can’t believe my office has a loo. Although I realised it’s another toilet to clean and I really hate bathroom cleaning (and all cleaning actually).

Your plans for glazing at the back of your house sound great. I bet you have incredible views!

Oh yeah I hate all cleaning too, wonder if you’ll end up going downstairs to avoid using it! Make sure you install a kettle up there!

Yes the bird can be pretty stunning, although today has been very moody & wet!

Your view sounds beautiful.

Your comment about a door trimmer made me laugh. My folks have had new doors fitted in their house, and the guy who installed them had to return to trim some of them because they wouldn’t shut properly! 😂

Glad it’s not just me! Our house is old and wonky which didn’t help at all!

I almost read dog trimmer first 😁 but no, never heard of a door trimmer before.

Your new study/office space looks so lovely and serene. And it makes me happy to see that you have a read lamp on your desk. It slightly resembles the two I have for my desk.

I love the orange lamp 🧡 it’s very versatile.

A dog trimmer probably makes more sense than a door trimmer! Hope to see you at Create Ensemble on 17th, Carina!

Having lived in what was a new build when we moved in twenty years ago and only having small windows, we are loving the light coming in through our big sash windows including a bay window in our new home by the sea. I spend so much time just staring out of them and watching the comings and goings in our new neighbourhood. They are the original windows so are single glazed and draughty. The wind coming off the sea has them rattling like crazy and the dehumidifier is permanently on from September until May to sort out the condensation, but I love them. My ever practical husband thinks we should replace them with UPVC frames. Thankfully we can't afford to and as we are in a conservation area, we can't. Well, maybe we can, but I'm not telling him that!

That’s wonderful that you’ve now got those lovely big windows! But you’re right that lovely period features often aren’t entirely practical. We had a similar thing in our house when we first moved it. The bay window and arch window in our bedroom were both timber single-glazed and the house was so cold! Eventually we had a joiner make new ones exactly like the originals but with double glazing. They are much better now, but we had to save up for a while because they weren’t cheap.

There’s never a simple (or cheap) solution!

Ah windows are so important. We live in a 1960s terraced maisonette and the windows are so wide, almost take up the whole wall. It really limits any renovation options like splitting rooms etc but it is the reason I fell in love with the house and the light is fab - it is a greenhouse in summer though!

That’s definitely the downside to big windows! But so lovely to have lots of light coming in and being able to see what’s going on outside.

Oh yes! We are raised above a set of garages so we can see all the surrounding communal gardens/trees birds etc 🙌🏻❤️
