So interesting seeing others people working spaces. I absolutely love (and am very slightly envious) of Jen’s fabulous balcony space. I love working outside as soon as the weather improves.
I agree! Jen's balcony with all of those trees to look at and the hanging chair looks like absolute bliss! Hope the warm days start to come soon so we can work outside 😎
I’ve been thinking about decorating our spare room (where I also work and write) for ages and this has given me some great ideas. I’m all about the pastel colours so maybe 2025 will finally be the year I get this project moving!
Very happy to have given you some inspiration, Victoria. I think pastel colours can work really well in a writing space. Do let me know if I can help with any decision making! 😊
Thanks so much for sharing yours! We're chair twins - aren't they so comfortable? Although I still haven't fully worked out what all of the different adjustments do!
I've had mine for seven years now and it's still fab. During lockdown I breastfed a newborn on work zoom calls so many times in that chair. No-one knew.
I love seeing where other writers write, always so inspiring. I still don't have a dedicated writing space — I live in a very tiny attic apartment in Rome — so I mostly write on my little kitchen table. But one day, one day I hope to have a writing room of my own!
It's always nice to dream, isn't it? And hopefully being in Rome gives you plenty of writing inspiration nearby. Thanks for reading and commenting, Michelle 😊
Thanks Hannah for this delightful post ! It was a pleasure to read. I’m always curious to have a look at other people desks. It’s funny because this week I set up a tiny desk in front of my bookshelves just for when I feel like writing but not necessarily want to go upstairs in my studio. I love that it faces my books, but would prefer if I could put it in front of my garden ☺️
I love the idea of having an additional mini desk set up in a more convenient space. My studio is also at the top of my house and sometimes I like to work at the kitchen table facing out to the garden. Thanks for reading Emy and glad you enjoyed! ☺️
I love this. I've been a professional writer for 30 years. I live in a small New York apartment with my husband son and currently DO NOT HAVE WRITING SPACE. I yearn for spaces like the ones you've spotlit here. (I currently work at the kitchen table or the public library). Thank you!
Thanks so much for reading, Brooke! I hope you get your dream writing space one day, but I bet your kitchen table and the public library still give you what you need ☺️
Absolutely loved this. In my writing space I chose busy wallpaper to jump my mind out of stuckness, a multi-position swivel chair for my always-antsy legs, and a separate cozy armchair to give myself another place to sit when my work starts to feel stale. This was the first time I ever considered the way I work in the way I designed a space, and it was invaluable!
Happy birthday for last weekend, Jen! Hope you’ve had a lovely week of celebrations.
Thanks again for sharing your space with me and being part of this piece. I loved having an insight into all of these beautiful, inspiring writing spaces ☺️
This was so fun to read! I love looking at other people’s desk spaces 😍
In my freelance career I’ve had a home office in a corner of a one room apartment, a super cute office at a coworking place in an old factory, a huge office of my own in a half-dingy basement and now a cozy office in a separate building next to our house.
What I’ve learned is: I love my L-shaped desk that I place so I can ideally see both the door and the window and I keep my computer screen in the corner! Ergonomics is everything! Plants and natural light give me energy, but in dark Sweden I also need cozy, soft lighting.
However currently, with a baby and a 4 y/o, even though I’m fortunate to have a separate office with everything I need I mostly end up reading slouching in my armchair with the laptop perched on my tummy 😅
When my kids are a little older I’m planning to put my lovely antique bureau (like the one in your post) in my bedroom as a diary writing, correspondence and writing desk. 😌 Already looking forward to this so much!
Thanks so much for reading and taking the time to comment and share your writing space experiences, Elin! I love that you’ve figured out what works for you and allow that to evolve for different stages of life 😊
What a treat this was! To see all these different creative spaces made me want to spruce up mine a bit. I have a whole room but it's pretty crammed with too much stuff.

Her balcony is fab.
It’s really stunning isn’t it.
I love everyone of these spaces. I now need to tidy mine up 😁😘
Some great inspiration isn't there? I don't think a work space has to be tidy. Mine often isn't but I think that's the sign of a well-used space! x

It's great to see everyone's writing spaces. I have a refurbished Herman Miller chair too.

I just do up and down and back support.

It’s so lovely to see everyone’s writing space. I adore seeing where other writer’s write.
I agree, it's like a glimpse into other writer's process. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful space here, Helen!

This sounds so well-considered, Jessie! I like the idea of busy wallpaper to help you feel unstuck! I'd love to see a picture 😊
Oh thank you! It's out of stock Kelly Venture Design, sadly, but here is a link to an older image. LUCIOUS, no? https://www.ebay.com/itm/335282664387
It’s stunning! Definitely a way to awaken the senses 🧡
I loved your piece. I created a lovely desk space then usually write on my sofa. But the cute vintage desk in the window is there when I'm called.
It’s always good to have options! Thanks so much for reading and commenting, Suzanne 😊🙏🏻
Hannah I'm so excited to be a part of this post! (Last weekend was my birthday 🎉 so I'm a little behind on my reading but your timing was perfect :)
What a treat! And I love seeing all the different styles and ways we make spaces our own and adapt to our circumstances. So fun and fascinating.
I'll definitely share this and I love your newsletter. 💝
Happy birthday for last weekend, Jen! Hope you’ve had a lovely week of celebrations.

Thank you Hannah! 🤗🤗
Great to see you combining your interests here Hannah, and seeing this go from a Notes thread to a post, with so much inspiration! ☺️
Thanks so much for reading Lauren, and I'm glad you found it inspiring too. I loved being able to have a nose inside other writer's rooms!
It really does feel like a treat 😊
Lovely looking writing spaces here!
Thanks Sarah, and also for sharing info on yours 😊
What a gorgeous piece, Hannah. That desk overlooking the sea! What a dream.
Thanks for reading, Maria. Yes, the desk looking out to the sea is my ultimate dream! 🌊
