Thanks Hannah, really enjoyed listening to this conversation.

Emily - thank you for sharing your experiences of balancing your work in finance with your creative work in particular. And how you feel as though when you are commissioned for creative work, it can feel like 'work'. I wonder in some ways if this is a good thing, framing our endeavours can place information in a psychological box of sorts. And then, when we do spend time on our own creative projects, we can play more?

Thanks so much for your words Sarah. I think you’re right and that’s the best perspective to have - I didn’t find that balance easily when I was illustrating full time, I wanted it all to feel like freedom and play. It’s easier in some ways to have the separation between work and play now, because I expect my finance job to feel like work!! If harder in others as my creativity is restricted and all I want to do is play!! 🀣

Thanks so much for having me on the podcast Hannah. It was such a pleasure to chat about our shared passion for creativity. Balancing my work as an accountant with my all my other creative endeavours has been an exciting journey, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to share that with your audience. I hope listeners find our conversation as inspiring as I did. I’m so glad we connected here on Substack and got to chat all things creative and career!
