Love your honesty here, I relate to so much! Socialising is expensive!!! I’m feeling a bit nervous about party season in the horizon and all of the Christmas presents but love the idea of being more crafty, that card you made is so lovely! ❤️

I feel the same about Christmas, but I'm trying to remember that it's all about the effort and thought rather than material items. I've started to think about gifts earlier than I usually would because I know I'm going to need to be more creative with them this year!

Loved this post and couldn't agree more! #3 "Having less cash is making me more creative and enterprising." is something I have found to be true as well. Creativity can thrive within perimeters like having a budget, or a specific topic to work with, etc. I'm sure your present for your husband on your anniversary meant so much more than just buying a present because you put so much thought and care into it.

I think he did appreciate it. I also enjoyed making it, so perhaps it's win-win! I'm definitely going to attempt to be more creative in my Christmas gift-giving too.

Nothing worse than shelling out for mediocre coffee! Now that I work from home, I make my own and, honestly, it is so reliably better than some of the expensive stuff. Modest, I know! I’ve got my Aeropress, I stock up on ground Costa beans when it’s on offer, and my faithful milk frother 👌🏻❤️

There's so much mediocre coffee out there! We've got a coffee grinder and, like you, always stock up on the good beans when they're on offer. I much prefer the consistency of knowing what I'm getting! Then, when I do have a really good coffee in a lovely cafe it feels like a treat!

I can really relate to much of this, Hannah, thanks for your honesty. We can romanticise the switch but there is a gritty reality we can't hide from, isn't there? It's been 12 years now since I walked away from full-time employment, and though there have been so many ups and downs, I would not change it for a second. Do you read Keris Stainton here on The Ladybird Purse?

Thanks Lindsay. I agree that I wouldn't go back to the old way of working but I think it is important to acknowledge some of the changes I've made over the past few months and adaptations to the way we live. It's always a bit difficult talking about money because we all have different perceptions of it, but on here I want to be honest about my own journey.

I've seen Keris' name pop up on notes a few times, so will check out her writing. Thank you!
