3 Things
for the coming week
A super quick hello from me today because I’m busy getting ready for ‘thing’ #1 - The Garden Salon and I’m currently flitting between finalising my writing workshop notes and roasting vegetables for a quiche.
Over the next seven days, I have three events taking place: one in person and two online and I hope there’s one (or more) that you can come along to.
Thing #1: The Garden Salon - writing retreat
Taking place this Sunday at The Phoenix Garden in central London (inside in the cosy building pictured). The weather forecast is currently looking lovely - sunny and autumnal ☀️ 🍂 and let’s hope it stays that way.
Hosting a retreat like this is a first for me, and I’m very excited (and a little nervous) to meet those of you who have tickets. The first hour and a half is a writing workshop (with the option to draw instead if you prefer) which I will be running. We will spend some of that time exploring the garden and using it for inspiration, and some of it writing and discussing. All based around the theme of ‘noticing’. After a scrummy homemade lunch* (aided by my lovely husband) we will be joined by author Emma Simpson who will be in conversation with me, talking about her brilliant book Breaking Waves and answering questions anyone has in the Q+A.
If you’re suddenly free on Sunday, can get yourself to London for 10:30ish and are in need of a few hours of calm, creativity and connection then this is the thing for you.
There are a couple of tickets remaining priced at £60 each: sign up here!
*In case you’re interested, lunch includes: roasted veg + feta quiche, Neal’s Yard cheeses, a quinoa, chard + tomato salad, a zingy slaw, fresh bread and a coffee and cardamom cake.
Thing #2: Create Ensemble - online creative co-working
This monthly online session next takes place on Monday 13th October from 7-8pm (UK). Essentially you log on via Zoom, we have a quick chat and then work on something creative you want to make time for. Most commonly that’s writing or sewing in some form, but there are no rules and anything you want to use the time for works! It’s usually an international crowd and new faces are always most welcome.
Paid subscribers can access the link here.
I know I will be looking forward to doing something calm and mindful 🧘 after a busy Sunday and a day of teaching on Monday.
Thing #3: Early Bird Writers’ Hour - online writing session
Once a month on a Friday morning I run an early (6:30am UK time) online writing hour. It’s similar to Create Ensemble but aimed more specifically at getting writing done, though I honestly don’t mind how you use the time. It’s just a helpful way of some accountability.
I usually feel quite smug by 7:30am when I’ve done a chunk of writing and the sun has barely risen!
The next session takes place on Friday 17th October, 6:30-7:30am (UK).

And now, I must return to my quiche. Come along on Sunday and you can have some!
Have a great weekend and I hope to see you either in person or online in the coming week.

Cheering you on, Hannah! Wonderful to see you doing this and I'm sure your London event will be really special because of all the care and thought you've put into it.
