What's going on?
Quite a lot! Strikes, a joyful dinner, colourful interior design and Create Ensemble.
Hello, and happy Sunday.
I wrote on Wednesday this week and therefore wasn’t going to post today, but then I realised that there had been quite a lot going on and I felt compelled to write about it.
In case you missed it, you might like to take a listen to this lovely interview I had the pleasure of doing recently with
. Lara studied law and worked in this field for a long time. Like me, she has discovered that creativity needs to be at the heart of what she does and so we chatted about her career journey and the twists and turns along the way.S3 E6: Lara Hayward
From time to time, I interview a podcast guest and we really, truly just click. The conversation flows (usually with me over-excitedly interrupting too often) and we could continuing talking for far longer than the allotted time.
And, speaking of the podcast, I’ve been listening back to some of the very first episodes I made. I found it a little cringey to listen to myself as a complete podcast novice; the ‘umms’ and hesitations and the volume differences between the music and talking! But, as with anything, we have to start somewhere so that we can learn and progress. I think I’ve definitely improved as time has gone on!
In the process of listening back, I realised that some of those guests were in the early stages of their career shift and it got me thinking that it would be a good idea to make a short series of ‘revisited’ episodes (à la Kirstie and Phil) to find out how that journey has gone in the 18 months since we first talked. Watch this space!
This coming Monday 19th May, 7pm (UK time) I’m hosting the next session of Create Ensemble. I’d love you to come and join and give yourself an hour to write or draw or create whatever you like really. This is for paid subscribers and the sign up link is at the bottom of this newsletter.
The reason for this being available to paid subscribers is that it costs me over £15 per month to have a Zoom subscription and so your subscriptions help to pay for that.
I explained a bit more about how it all works in a video here:
It’s been another strange week because, sadly, the strikes at the school I teach at are still continuing.
