I’m back in London, writing to you from the spare bedroom/study where my desk is currently situated. After over four weeks in France, I am home.
Home.
What does that really mean?
It’s a question I’ve been pondering a lot over the past month whilst keeping a daily diary of my travels, as well as working steadily on my book on the subject of home.
Part of the reason for keeping a diary was to help navigate my feelings about being away from the home I love so dearly for an extended period. What would I miss the most? Would I feel a longing to return after just a couple of weeks? Or would I discover a different way of living that makes me want to stay?
Over the course of the trip, I kept a note on my phone titled “Things I miss”. Here is what it contained by the end.
