Hello,

I was about to write that this is my final post of 2025, and then I realised that there is another Sunday in 2025 after this one, so it probably isn’t. But that does depend on how organised I manage to get in writing and scheduling in between various family visits. I’d like to do a reflection on 2025 post as I think it’s good to look back and take stock of what’s gone on. Let’s see if I manage it!

This is a post for paid subscribers as I wrote my final free piece last week with some very honest reflections on leaving teaching and heading into the world of self-employment. You can read it here in case you missed it:

Goodbye timetable. Hello Me.

With self-employment now very much at the forefront of my mind, I’ve been thinking about the direction I’d like my Substack to take over the next few months and one of the ideas I have is for a fortnightly ‘Self-employment diary’ kind of post. This will be for paid subscribers and will be an honest report of how things are going. I’ve followed a few other’s journeys like this in the past and have always found it very interesting.

I plan to include things like:

  • How many interior design bookings I’ve had;

  • How I’ve managed my time;

  • What is working well and the benefits of this new life;

  • What I’m struggling with, what isn’t working so well.

I’d love to know in the comments if this would be something that is of interest to you.

Today I want to share some of the places I’ve visited in London recently. Going to galleries and exhibitions more regularly is high on my list of benefits to (still) living in London and having more flexibility with my time now that I’m no longer teaching.

That very benefit of flexibility meant I could get tickets for The Cosmic House earlier in the week.

Let me tell you about it.
