Hello!

Over the past week a few more lovely people have joined the paid community and I want to wish you a very warm welcome.

Today’s piece explains a feeling that has been brewing in me for a while, but a recent situation brought it back into the foreground. Let me tell you about it.

On 29th May, I was fortunate to receive an invitation to a small book launch event. Emma Gannon was to be chatting about her new book ‘A Year Of Nothing’ with Alice Vincent and JP Watson. I’ve followed Emma’s work closely for several years as well as attending her writing retreat last November. Alice has written several books I’ve loved, in particular her memoir ‘Rootbound’ which weaves discovering the therapeutic properties of growing things with navigating life. JP Watson runs indie publishing company The Pound Project who were publishing Emma’s new book.

It was a relatively informal discussion between the three of them in front of a small audience, held in the very formal surroundings of a Mayfair private members club. Most unlike any other book events I’ve ever been to!
