Back in early September, I awoke one morning to see a post from The Hyphen by Emma Gannon in my inbox. It was titled ‘An exciting invitation for you’ and contained details of a creativity retreat that Emma Gannon was running alongside Tanya Lynch of Ease Retreats.
There was a fairly hefty cost attached to it, which I couldn’t easily afford in this transition period between salaried job and freelance, but something called out to me strongly that I should do it. The email had arrived in my inbox at 5:15am, I’d seen it at around 6:00am and by 6:21am I had emailed Tanya to say I would like to attend. There were only 15 places available, and I knew that I needed to have one!
I should say that this kind of impulsive behaviour is not normal for me. In recent months I’ve had to be much more careful with my spending (which I’ve found to be an unexpectedly cathartic process) and tend to spend time mulling over decisions carefully.
So, it was a surprise to me to find that I felt so strongly about this creativity retreat. I went with that feeling and was happy to have secured one of the 15 places.
Fast-forward to last Friday: the day of the retreat.
